COOK Urological Endoscopy courses
In collaboration with Cook Urological, our unit has organized monthly courses on PCNL techniques and urinary tract endoscopy for the last two years. Trainees have the opportunity to perform percutaneous interventions and ureteroscopy (flexible and semirigid) in our unit’s experimental surgery facility. Our facility utilizes pigs as surgical models, and is in full accordance to the laws regulating animal experimentation in Greece. We collaborate with the Anesthesiology Department of the University of Patras for the sedation of the animals.
Following an afternoon of theoretical and practical course in the experimental surgery facility, trainees are welcomed to the Endourological operating room, where they can observe and participate in the following day’s planned operations. Trainees have successfully transferred the knowledge acquired in these courses to their home institutions and have started performing interventions as taught in our courses.
